The Royal Naval Dockyard, the westernmost point in Bermuda, has served many purposes, including the headquarters for the Royal Navy and a strategic defense post for the British in the North Atlantic. Most recently it has been redeveloped into a fascinating attraction offering visitors a glimpse into Bermuda's history, and a fun place to shop or explore - from restaurants, art galleries, a crafts market, maritime museum and more.

Attractions

  • Clock Tower Building - Completed in 1856, this elegant building was originally used as offices for naval stores. Now it's a bonafide tourist attraction.
  • Bermuda Maritime Museum - Opened by Her Majesty the Queen, the museum has excellent displays of Bermuda's marine heritage and history.
  • Scaur Hill Fort Park - Built in the 1870s as a last ditch defense line for the Royal Naval Dockyard. The fort is set in 22 acres of parkland, with trails and picnic areas.

Currency

The Bahamian dollar (BSD) is the official unit of currency. U.S. dollars, traveler's checks and credit cards are widely accepted.
